INDIANAPOLIS -- A juvenile has been charged with intentionally setting a fire that damaged an Indianapolis charter school Monday evening.
Firefighters were called to the Indianapolis Lighthouse Charter School on Franklin Road just before 11 p.m. When they arrived flames were already showing outside the building but they were able to quickly put out the fire.
Fire investigators say the fire started in a stairwell in the back of the building when a stack of wooden pellets was set on fire.
Police took a 15-year-old boy into custody after the fire, he's now being charged with arson.
Because he is a juvenile, the boy's name will not be released.
The fire remains under investigation by the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department and the Indianapolis Fire Department.
