INDIANAPOLIS -- An 18-year-old is dead after a shooting at a park on Indianapolis' northeast side.
The shooting happened at Wes Montgomery Park near 34th Street and Hawthorne Avenue around 7 p.m.
Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officers on the scene say the victim and his girlfriend were meeting someone at the park when he was shot several times in the chest and taken to Eskenazi Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The victim has been identified as Deante Williams.
The suspect ran away from the scene. Police are still looking for him.
The shooting remains under investigation by the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department.
