3 people accused of illegally purchasing guns used in officer shootings face federal charges

INDIANAPOLIS -- Three people are facing federal charges for illegally purchasing the weapons used to kill a Boone County deputy and a Terre Haute police officer. 

Boone County Deputy Jacob Pickett was shot and killed during a foot pursuit of a suspect in Lebanon on May 2

Terre Haute Police Department Officer Robert Pitts was killed in an exchange of gunfire with a homicide suspect on May 4

United States Attorney Josh Minkler says three people accused of illegally purchasing the firearms used in both of their shootings will be federally charged. Their names have not yet been released. 

Minkler is holding a press conference Monday at 10 a.m in Indianapolis to announce those charges.
