INDIANAPOLIS — The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development awarded the city of Indianapolis $5.5 million in funding to help local programs to end homelessness, the Department of Metropolitan Development announced on Wednesday.
This grant will support 19 different projects around the city, according to Andrea Watts with the Department of Metropolitan Development.
More than half a million dollars will go toward two projects with the Continuum of Care (CoC) Program in Indianapolis. The new plans are set to help bring housing to citizens experiencing or affected by homelessness.
“This year, Indianapolis has received a record level of funding to prevent, mitigate and reduce homelessness in our community—a more than 25 percent increase in funding since 2015,” Mayor Joe Hogsett said.
