Active Grace helps people fight homelessness and opioid addiction

Posted

INDIANAPOLIS -- When a single mother of two's house caught on fire a few years ago, they had nothing left and nowhere to go. That's when Nicole Wing found Active Grace.

"The right help can help anyone get out of anything," Wing said.

Active Grace recently purchased a 42-acre property known as Camp Camby and houses 20 families needing a little bit of grace in the form of a helping hand.

Ryan Champman, director of Active Grace, said they teach everything from GED classes to computer skills.

They are working to raise funds for a pain management clinic to get people the help they need without becoming addicted to opioids.

Camp Camby is currently in need of funding and volunteers to restore older cabins.

There is currently an eight-month waitlist for Camp Camby's services.
