INDIANAPOLIS – Just when Indianapolis Animal Care Services were on the brink of needing to put down animals due to overcrowding, local relief was provided by neighbors Friday.
Soon after Indianapolis Animal Care Services posted a sign on their door warning those surrendering pets that the animals could face euthanasia, Noah’s Animal Hospital stepped in.
More than 50 cats were transported by Noah’s Animal Hospital staff to various clinics where they could be cared for temporarily. Some staff members even agreed to house some of the animals at their own homes.
“Instead of them just being at a location, at a clinic, they are home with you,” said Robert Thomas of Noah’s Animal Hospitals. “They're part of your daily life. They are something you have to take care of so it means a lot more and you.”
The animal hospital will foster the cats for three weeks until the Indy Mega Adoption event at the Indiana State Fairgrounds on Oct. 14 and 15.
