INDIANAPOLIS -- A 25-year-old man has been arrested and charged with murder in connection with the shooting death of a man on Indy's northeast side back in September.

Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officers were called to the 4300 block of N. Keystone Avenue just after 9 p.m. on September 7 for a report of a person shot. Officers found Isaac Beck, 37, at the scene suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

An arrest warrant for murder was issued for DeWayne Harper, 25, and he was arrested on October 4. Harper is currently charged with murder.

IMPD says the arrest follows the roll-out of the city's comprehensive violence reduction strategy that was announced last December.

That strategy includes disrupting the spread of violence and fostering positive community engagement by:

  • Cracking down on the illegal possession of guns by violent criminals.
  • Investing in neighborhood-level interventions.
  • Expanding access to wrap-around social services for those most in need.

If you have any information about this or any other criminal activity contact Crime Stoppers of Central Indiana at 317-262-8477.
