INDIANAPOLIS – After parents raised concerns about the location of an elementary school bus stop, the transportation company has decided to move that stop to a safer location.

The bus stop was originally set at the intersection of Parker and English avenues, but Kadem Elliott contacted RTV6 this week with concerns for his child’s safety in an area he says has constantly been an issue.

Elliott said the bus stop for Emma Donna Elementary School was in front of an abandoned home that was being used as a party site where bottles of alcohol were constantly found strewn around the yard.

RTV6 reached out to A and S Transportation, the company that manages the school’s transportation to fin doubt what could be done to fix the problem. Less than 24 hours later, the company and the school district came up with a solution.

Wednesday, that bus stop for Emma Donna Elementary School was moved to Clayton and Oxford streets, which an IPS spokeswoman says is a much safer location.

Elliott says the house is still a problem, but he’s glad to see the district take his child’s safety seriously.

“They felt this house was dangerous, they got my point and I’m glad,” said Elliott. “Channel 6 news did everything they could to help that… I can breathe now, I can tell you that.”

City leaders tell RTV6 that home is set for demolition by the end of the year and the home next door, where partiers are staying, has a repair and demolition order for the garage.
