INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - More than 600 people hit the streets Sunday morning in the Circle City Donut Dash 5K.

Half way through the race, runners stopped and ate a dozen donut holes before heading back to the finish line.

The funds from the race went to the non-profit, Teachers' Treasures. The organization helps teachers provide free supplies to students in Indianapolis.

"A lot of kids don't come to school every day at beginning of the school year with the tools that they need to succeed. That's really the impact that were seeing from this," said David Hobson, Teachers' Treasures.

"What can you say bad about donuts there's nothing bad about that except calories but that's why you run," said Jon Douglas.

Many runners say they use races in February to gauge their training for half marathons in the spring and summer.
