City of Indianapolis begins four-day pothole blitz

Blitz will run through Friday
Posted

INDIANAPOLIS -- Indianapolis Mayor Joe Hogsett knows the city has a major pothole problem and that's why he joined the Department of Public Works Tuesday to announce a four-day pothole blitz.

"Winter weather has left Indianapolis' streets riddled with potholes, and we are taking unprecedented steps to repair the damage for the safety of drivers," said Mayor Hogsett.

Those steps include working with local asphalt providers to start production in January and February.

20 DPW crews will be joined by three contractors to fill as many potholes as they can while we have dry weather with a 'hot mix' asphalt.

'Hot mix' is an asphalt mix is a longer-lasting pothole fix and adheres better than the asphalt mix that's typically used during the colder months.
