IMPD gets new tool to preserve public safety cameras

Posted

INDIANAPOLIS -- Repairing and maintaining public safety cameras around the city just got easier.

IMPD now owns a retired bucket truck, thanks to a donation from Indianapolis Power and Light.

“This donation will make it more cost effective to install additional equipment in the future to help deter criminal acts as well as strengthen cases brought before the courts with video evidence,” IMPD Chief Bryan Roach said.

Previously, the department would have to contract out repair work – taking several days or even weeks to complete.

“With the IPL bucket truck donation, IMPD staff will be able to respond quickly to repair/replace cameras and provide much needed maintenance in a timely and cost effective manner,” Chief Roach said.

There are more than 100 public safety cameras spread throughout Indianapolis.
