IMPD: Teen shot, killed trying to rob Indy pawn shop

INDIANAPOLIS — A teen was shot and killed when he attempted to rob a pawn shop Wednesday afternoon, according to police.

Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officers were called to EZ Pawn at the Irvington Plaza around 3:30 p.m. for a reported shooting.

Responding officers found a 15-year-old boy shot at the scene. The teen was rushed to Eskenazi Hospital where he later died.

The Marion County Coroner identified the teen as Ja'Shawn Taylor.

Witnesses told police that Taylor was attempting to rob the store, and was armed with a stolen handgun, when he was shot.

The shooter was identified by police as being an employee at the store.
