INDIANAPOLS – People living in an Indianapolis east side apartment complex woke up Wednesday morning to find eviction notices on their doors.
Management of Arborstone Apartments delivered 67 eviction warnings to people they said have not paid rent for months. Many of the notices said people living in the apartments owe thousands of dollars.
The notices were posted days after the complex’s water was suddenly shut off due to a clerical error, according to management.
Some people said they did withhold some rent because of maintenance issues.
“I paid 250 for this month,” said Dana Blount. “I should only owe like 200 or 300.”
The manager, Connie West said she expects the complex to be sold soon and new owners will need to decide whether to pursue the evictions.
