INDIANAPOLIS -- An elderly woman died from her injuries following a house fire Thursday morning on Indianapolis' north side.

Firefighters were dispatched at around 2 a.m. to a house in the 3800 block of N. Capitol Avenue.

Fire crews pulled the woman, who neighbors say is in her 90s, from the fire. She was taken to Eskenazi Hospital in critical condition, where she died.

An IFD firefighter was taken to Methodist Hospital. They twisted their knee during the rescue.

It is unclear if the house had working smoke detectors. The damage to the house was estimated at about $80,000.

This is the fourth Indianapolis fire death in 2018.
