Endangered barn owl shot in southern Indiana

PERRY COUNTY, Ind. -- Department of Natural Resources officers say a barn owl is recovering after being shot and they want to know who is responsible. 

The owl is being treated at the Dwight R Chamberlain Raptor Center at Henry Lake. 

The Barn Owl is a state-endangered species. The DNR says there are less than 50 pairs living in Indiana. 

In 2015, Indiana DNR said only 10 barn owl nests were reported statewide.

Anyone with information about who may have shot this owl should contact the Indiana Department of Natural Resources at 317-232-4200.
