FRANKLIN TOWNSHIP, Ind. -- It isn’t even December yet and there’s already a Grinch loose in Franklin Township where residents say someone is stealing and damaging their Christmas decorations.
You've likely seen those dancing light shows on your neighbor's garage or the side of their home, but Doug Thomas says his home won't be so festive this year after someone stole his laser light projector right out of his yard.
“I had it out front and then I moved it to the back because I thought it would be less likely to be stolen back there,” Thomas said. “I just happen to come out, to turn the lights off actually, and I realized that the laser light’s not going.”
And Thomas isn’t alone. There was at least one other report filed this week about stolen Christmas decorations and several other people have shared incidents on the local crime watch page on social media about stolen or damaged decorations in recent days.
“I don’t really understand anybody stealing other people’s property. It’s disheartening, but it’s not gonna ruin our Christmas spirit or anything,” Thomas said.
And Thomas has this message for whoever is stealing their decorations: “If they use it, hopefully, they get joy out of it."
