Funeral services announced for prominent doctor killed on Indy's northwest side

INDIANAPOLIS – Funeral services for a prominent Indianapolis doctor, who was gunned down in his home last week and shot to death, were announced Tuesday.

Visitation for Dr. Kevin Rodgers, program director emeritus at IU School of Medicine, will be held Friday from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. at Flanner and Buchanan at 2706 Kessler Boulevard West Drive. A second visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at St. Malachy Catholic Church at 9833 E. County Rd. 750 N. in Brownsburg.

Memorial services will take place Saturday at noon at St. Malachy Catholic Church with Irish wake at Marian University - 3200 Cold Spring Road – from 2:30 p.m. – 5 p.m.

No arrests have been made in Rodgers’ death. He was found unresponsive in his northwest side Indianapolis home by his wife in the 7500 block of Ballinshire S. Drive.

The Marion County Coroner says Dr. Rodgers, 61, died from gunshot wounds.

Dr. Rodgers served as a longtime assistant lacrosse coach and team physician. He also received the Indiana University School of Medicine’s 2015 Inspirational Educator of the Year Award.
