INDIANAPOLIS -- In just a few short weeks Hoosiers could be buying alcohol on Sundays just like most of the country.
The Indiana House approved an amended bill Monday that would allow alcohol to be sold on Sundays. The bill is the same one that has already been voted on this session except it has been amended to take effect immediately after its passage instead of July 1.
Because of that change, the bill must now go back to the Senate for a concurrence, which is a vote to agree to the change.
Once passed, carry-out sales of alcohol will be allowed in the state of Indiana from noon to 8 p.m. on Sundays.

After the Senate votes, the only step left will be for Governor Holcomb to sign the bill into law.
Governor Holcomb has said in the past that he supports updating the state's alcohol laws.
A spokesperson for the governor says his statement from last month remains true: "If it's the first bill on my desk, it will be the first bill I sign."
The bills effective date will depend on when the Senate votes, but the bill could hit the governor's desk as soon as the beginning of March.
