LAWRENCE, Ind. -- Two burglary suspects took guns, possibly a live grenade and three police badges from the home of a retired police officer in Lawrence late Friday night.
Lawrence police say the homeowner was not there when the suspects broke into the home on Kenyon Rd. near E. 46th St. and N. Shadeland Avenue around 11:30 p.m.
Some guns were taken and the family says possibly a live Vietnam-era grenade. Lawrence police are uncertain if the grenade is live but they are treating it as if it was out of an abundance of caution.
The three badges taken were for the Marion Co. Sheriff's Office, Southport police and Whitestown police.
During another burglary at the home on October 12, an AR-15 rifle was taken.
Police say they believe the incidents are related and were committed by the same suspects.
After the first burglary, the homeowner installed surveillance cameras.
