INDIANAPOLIS -- A minivan plunged into Fall Creek in downtown Indianapolis Sunday afternoon after it was struck by a hit-and-run driver.
Firefighters and rescue crews were called to the area of Fall Creek Road and College Avenue around 3 p.m.
The driver of a white Chevy Equinox told police she was hit by a silver car that fled from the scene. Witnesses say the silver car hit the Equinox head on, forcing it across four lanes of traffic, through a concrete and into Fall Creek 40 feet below.

Crews were able to rescue the woman from her vehicle and she was taken to IU Methodist Hospital to be checked out.
Tactical Rescue crews responded to pull the vehicle from the creek and the Marion County Health Department was called in reference to a small fuel spill into the creek because of the crash.

Police are still searching for the silver car involved in the crash.
