INDIANAPOLIS -- Florence may not be a hurricane anymore, but the impacts are going to be felt for some time across the Carolinas.
The biggest issue comes from expansive flooding. ABC News reports, “more than 170 roads impassable, including part of I-95.”
Members from Indiana Task Force 1 and the Indiana Red Cross are working tirelessly on the ground. There are a few ways you can help the many victims of Florence from right here in Indiana.
The easiest way to help is by donating money. You can make a contribution online by going to redcross.org, or call 1-800-HELP NOW (1-800-435-7669). You can also choose where you want your donation to be used.
The Red Cross also reminds us of the importance of donating blood, during these types of natural disasters. The organization says, “platelet and type O blood donations are especially needed right now.” You can find a list of upcoming blood drives on the Red Cross website.
You’re likely to see various groups popping up on social media to collect donations for storm victims. The Better Business Bureau says it, “advises donors that experienced disaster relief organizations are your best bet to provide emergency help for victims of Hurricane Florence.”
