INDIANAPOLIS -- Hundreds of people are still without power three days after a wind storm rolled through central Indiana.
Neil Bernard and his wife haven’t had power since Saturday.
“We’ve been in bed a lot of the time because that’s the only way you can keep warm,” said Bernard. “We had to go to a hotel one night.”
Bernard says they often lose power during storms, because of how close trees are to the nearby power lines – but they’ve never been out for this long.
“This has been the worst,” said Bernard.
IPL crews finally arrived Tuesday afternoon to turn on the power for Bernard and his neighbors and Spectrum was able to replace several fried cable lines as well.
An IPL spokesperson says Saturday’s wind storm was one of the most damaging storms they’ve seen since 2009. A total of 55,000 customers were without power from the wind storm and they hope to have everyone’s power restored by Tuesday evening.
