IACS waives adoption fees in October; adopt love for a donation to support breast cancer awareness

Posted

INDIANAPOLIS -- Indianapolis Animal Care Services is waiving adoption fees in October to support breast cancer awareness. For the entire month, you can adopt love for just a minimum donation of $5 to the Susan G. Komen Foundation of Central Indiana.

IACS is currently completely out of space, with more animals being surrendered each day and they're using Breast Cancer Awareness month to help clear their shelters AND give back to a cause that impacts many people in the community, including several of their employees and volunteers.

“As a survivor of breast cancer, I have gotten much of my strength to “soldier on” as my mom would say, from the unconditional love my animals have always given me,” said IACS Sergeant Laurieanne Hullinger. “They gave me strength when I didn’t think I had any left, determination to fight and the ability to think of something, or someone else when I could have been consumed by my fears. During this special month please join me in the fight to not only find a cure for breast cancer, but also a forever home for a devoted friend.”

All of IACS’ adoptable animals can be viewed online here.

All adoptions include a spay/neuter, vaccinations, microchip, and heartworm testing.

If you are considering surrendering your pet, please consider alternative options. Indy CARES is a not-for-profit program run by IACS staff and volunteers. Learn how they can help here.

Shelter Adoption Hours:
