Indiana Blood Center urges Hoosiers to donate to help Irma victims

Posted

INDIANAPOLIS -- It may sound familiar after the recent devastation in Texas from Hurricane Harvey, but the Indiana Blood Center needs donations for victims of the newest natural disaster to strike, Hurricane Irma.

The center is urging all eligible donors to make donation appointments as soon as possible in an effort to meet the emergency needs of patients that have already been affected or will be affected by Hurricane Irma.

The Indiana Blood Center had been sending blood to Texas as part of a national response team for Hurricane Harvey.

The blood centers are especially in need of type O blood because it is the only blood type that can be safely used on any patient.

The Blood Center accepts walk-in donors, or you can schedule your appointment online.

No matter where you are in central Indiana, there should be an Indiana Blood Center location nearby.
