INDIANAPOLIS – The real-life stories of recovering addicts will be the highlight of a new stage play in Indianapolis.
“Living Recovery” will tell the stories of Brad Trolson and Nate Rush who battled addictions for years.
"I was a homeless heroin addict. I used heroin for over 20 years,” said Rush.
The two men teamed up with occupational therapists Victoria Wilburn and Sally Wasmuth on the project, and they believe it has made a big impact on their recovery.
"Seeing my life depicted in front of me by someone else, it was overwhelming. I cried like a baby,” said Rush.
The free stage play will be performed Sunday at the Phoenix Theater beginning at 7 p.m. Following the show, Rush, Trolson and cast members will lead a community discussion on addiction.
"We want people to know that it can affect all of us and that we really need to have more empathy for those in recovery,” said Wilburn.
