INDIANAPOLIS -- An 8th-grade Indianapolis girl says a man tried to lure her into his car while she was walking to the bus stop.
The 14-year-old student, who didn't want her name to be used, spoke to RTV6 with the permission of her mother.
The girl said she was walking to her bus stop near Oxford and Rural streets when a stranger pulled up next to her in a black Dodge. It was still dark when the vehicle pulled up.
"He comes up to the side of me when I'm not even close to the bus, and he asked me what time it is, and I said I don't know and kept walking," the girl recalls. "He kept driving until he said, 'how old are you' and I said, 'I'm 14, can you please leave me alone?'"
But the teen said he didn't leave after that and tried to get her into his vehicle.
"He said, 'if you get into the car, I won't touch you or nothing because of your age. I said no. He said, 'what time do you have to go to school? You can come to my house, and we can talk or whatever and then I'll drop you off at school.' I said no again, and I kept walking."
The second time she tried to walk away, the girl said the driver pulled in front of her.
"I had to walk around his car and then when I looked back he was opening his car door almost trying to get out," she said. "I ran and hid between two bushes."
The young girl said she hid for nearly 20 minutes until it was light outside and she knew the driver was gone.
"And that's when I ran home and cried to my mom about it," said the girl.
The girl said she didn't recognize the suspect and she was so shaken up she didn't think to get his license plate number.
"I don't want no other females to get kidnapped or anything."
Police have not released a full description of the suspect, and the vehicle is only described as being a black Dodge.
