INDIANAPOLIS — An Indianapolis woman who was babysitting an infant had a frightening experience when she found a stranger had walked into the home.
Missy Starsiak was babysitting at a home on Hosbrook Street Monday when a strange man appeared in the hallway.
“At first I thought he was here to fix the shower. That’s what it sounded like he said,” Starsiak said.
Starsiak said the people she was babysitting for had been having issues with the upstairs bathroom, so she assumed that the strange man inside the home was there to fix it, so she led him upstairs to the bathroom.
“He goes, ‘what am I supposed to put on after I get out of the shower?’ I go, ‘you’re not here to fix the shower?’ He says, ‘no, I’m here to TAKE a shower,’” Starsiak said.
When Starsiak realized he wasn’t who she thought he was, she told him to leave immediately.
Luckily for her, he did.
The man, later identified as 55-year-old James R. Taylor, walked outside but lingered behind the house for about 20 minutes before taking off.
Last week, another neighbor took a photo of Taylor as he was trying to open the front door of a home.
Court records show Taylor is currently banned from Riley Hospital for Children and IU Health. He was arrested in 2018 at Eskenazi Hospital multiple times for disorderly conduct, resisting law enforcement and battery on a public safety official.
Taylor is facing a criminal trespass charge in connection to Monday’s incident. His next court appearance will be Thursday morning.
