INDIANAPOLIS -- People living on Indianapolis' southeast side say they're frustrated with their post office branch because their mail is showing up later or not at all.
Megan Schlotfeldt lives near Arlington Avenue and Stop 11 Road. She received a large pile of mail in her mailbox on Friday after she says she didn't receive any for several days prior.
"It is very frustrating," Schlotfeldt said. "Especially when you are looking forward to receiving something. I have family that lives out of town. When they send something, I never know when it's actually going to arrive."
The Wanamaker branch handles delivery for Schlotfeldt's area and several other residents living there say they've had the same issues.
"I'm outraged. I should get the same service everyone else is getting. There is no reason I should be getting my mail late - but especially not at all," Bob Miliron said. "It's just inexcusable."
Miliron said sometimes his mail doesn't even show up until between 8-8:30 p.m. at night, if it shows up at all.
Managers at the Wanamaker post office branch say current mail issues are because they're in the middle of their peak delivery season and they're getting more mail this year than they ever have before. But they can't explain why the mail delays have happened throughout the year.
Postal managers say mail carriers are behind and asking for patience as they work to get the mail out as soon as possible.
Anyone experiencing issues with their mail delivery is encouraged to file a complaint online so the postal service can investigate.
