INDIANAPOLIS -- A new report shows central Indiana as a long-shot for Amazon's new North American headquarters, but not completely out of the game.
Sperling’s Best Places combined speculation from media outlets, research firms and brokerages to create a ranking of the metropolitan areas most likely to be chosen to house Amazon’s new headquarters.
Based on all of the information gathered, Atlanta seems to be leading the way as the most likely choice with Boston, Chicago, Philadelphia and Washington D.C. not too far behind.

Wherever it goes, Amazon’s new headquarters is expected to bring up to 50,000 jobs and billions of dollars in other investments in the community – which is a reasonable explanation for all the fuss.
Amazon has said it plans to make its final decision based on a few choice criteria:
- Metro population of 1 million or more
- International airport nearby
- Public Transportation
- University pipeline with strong tech programs
- Low cost of living
While the mid-level ranking isn’t the best – Indianapolis didn’t come in last - Vancouver, Canada holds that title alone.
