INDIANAPOLIS -- Indianapolis Power and Lights is warning about a scam targeting customers during the months when their bills usually go up.
IPL says they’ve received an increase of reports about payment scams from criminals trying to take advantage of your rising winter heat bills.
A person claiming to represent the company is calling customers and threatening to disconnect service if they do not pay immediately. IPL says they do not require any specific method of payment and to never give your information out over the phone. They say if a representative ever calls you they will have detailed, accurate information about your account.
If you believe you have received one of these calls you can call and report it.
