INDIANAPOLIS -- As many as 7,400 IPL customers were temporarily without power Wednesday night, including businesses and restaurants in the popular Mass Ave district.
According to the National Weather Service, Indianapolis experienced an isolated gust of 50 mph winds shortly before 8 p.m., and has had multiple wind gusts in the 35-45 mph range.

IPL tweeted that the heavy winds were affecting customers across its territory, and that crews had been dispatched to restore power as quickly as possible.
Several RTV6 viewers confirmed that restaurants along the southern portion of the Mass Avenue corridor were without power.

As of 5:30 Thursday morning, IPL was reporting that power had been restored to all but 200 customers.
