INDIANAPOLIS — The IU Health People Mover will shut down next year, as the hospital transitions into using a free bus shuttle service.
The IU Health People Mover is due for “major maintenance” and has “substantial ongoing operational costs.”
The new, free bus shuttle service will begin in February 2019. Multiple shuttles will run per day. Each can hold about 30 people.
The People Mover began running 15 years ago on elevated tracks between Methodist and University/Riley Hospitals. The elevated tracks will be kept after the service is suspended.
