INDIANAPOLIS -- While legendary director Rob Reiner is in Indianapolis this weekend to receive his Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2017 Heartland Film Festival he took some time to sit down with RTV6 and talk about his works, his thoughts on the Harvey Weinstein scandal and how President Trump makes him look at his newest film in a whole new light.
That film, "LBJ," tells the story of Lyndon B. Johnson's ascent to the presidency following John. F. Kennedy's assassination. A showing of the movie will kick off opening night of the film festival on Thursday.
Reiner will also be in attendance for special screenings of his classic movies "Stand by Me" and "The Princess Bride" Friday morning in Castleton.
Reiner shared his thoughts about the Weinstein scandal and what it means for men and women.
"How can a woman come forward and say 'this has happened to me' when we as a nation have said, 'this is fine, the president does it, he did it and we're fine with that, we elected him.' That's a big problem," said Reiner. "It's going to be tough. It needs a conversation. We have to keep talking about it."
The Heartland Film Festival runs through October 22.
