INDIANAPOLIS — Two women told police they were held at gun point when they met a person, through OfferUp, to sell them a cell phone. Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department announced on Tuesday, that they have made an arrest for the robbery.
On the afternoon of Saturday, January 19, the two victims arranged to meet the suspect in the 1300 block of Riley Avenue for the transaction of the cell phone.
When the women initially met with the suspect, they were just talking about the transaction. When one of the victims began connecting the cell phone to WiFi, the suspect allegedly pulled out a gun and demanded the cell phone. After retrieving the phone, the suspect fled the scene. The victims then drove to another location and called police.
IMPD detectives investigated the robbery and were able to make an arrest on Tuesday, January 29.
IMPD has issued a reminder that each of their district headquarters has an e-commerce zone that is under surveillance, where community members can conduct transactions safely.
