WABASH COUNTY, Ind. -- A man is dead after he was shot and killed by police during a traffic stop in North Manchester Tuesday evening.

Indiana State Police say officers from the North Manchester Police Department initiated a traffic stop on a truck just before 6 p.m. The truck's driver, Michael Kline, 40, stopped the truck in the parking lot of a business at 1601 State Road 114.

Preliminary evidence indicates that at some point during that traffic stop there was an incident that led to an officer firing shots at Kline. It is not clear what that incident was, who fired the shots or how many were fired.

Kline died from the injuries he received.

No officers were injured in the incident.

The shooting remains under investigation by Indiana State Police.
