LAWRENCE, Ind. -- A man was struck and killed while crossing the street in Lawrence Tuesday evening.
Lawrence Police Department officers were called to the scene on Pendleton Pike just east of Post Road around 9 p.m. for a report of a pedestrian that had been hit by a vehicle.
Police say the driver of the vehicle was not able to see the man as he was crossing the road and hit him. The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity has not been released.
Police say the driver of the vehicle stayed on the scene and cooperated with their investigation. Alcohol and drugs are not considered a factor at this time.
The accident remains under investigation by the Lawrence Police Department.
