Need a holiday job? These companies are hiring seasonal help in Indy right now

INDIANAPOLIS -- If you’re looking for a job or even some extra work over the holiday season, you have plenty of options in the Indianapolis area.

 

Jobs are available at some of the larger businesses as well as the smaller chains like the dozens of shops in the Castleton Square Mall.

 

We’ve put together a list of some of the best opportunities and where to look this holiday season.

 

UPS to Hire 1,600 in Indianapolis Area for Holiday Season

If you’re looking for seasonal work that could eventually land you a full-time career, UPS might be offering just what you want.

 

The company plans to hire more than 1,600 seasonal employees in Indianapolis and Plainfield to support the increased volume of packages that will begin in November and continue through the beginning of next year.

 

Full and part-time seasonal positions include:

  • Package Handlers: Starting at $10.20 per hour
  • Tractor-trailer & package car drivers: Starting at $18.75 per hour
  • Driver helpers: Starting at $15 per hour

Over the last three years, UPS says about 35 percent of their seasonal employees were hired in a permanent position when the holidays were over.

 

UPS is hiring at the following four local locations.

  • W. 81st St., Indianapolis, IN 46268
  • W. 16th St., Indianapolis, IN 46202
  • E. 86th St., Indianapolis, IN 46250
  • Bradford Road, Plainfield, IN 46168

FedEx Hiring 2,000 Holiday Workers in Indianapolis

Another company that often hires their seasonal workers to full-time positions is hoping to take on nearly 2,000 seasonal employees in the Indianapolis area this year. 

 

FedEx expects to add more than 50,000 permanent and seasonal positions throughout the company during the 2017 holidays. 

 

The majority of workers hired at FedEx in Indianapolis will be package handlers and other support positions at the Express hub and Ground terminals. Those positions will likely have the opportunity to continue working after the holidays.

Bankrupt Toys R Us Hiring Over 350 Seasonal Employees in Indy

Just because you're bankrupt doesn't mean you don't need a hand during the holiday season.

 

Toys R Us, which filed for bankruptcy on Monday night, announced Thursday that it is looking to fill at least 900 seasonal employees in the state of Indiana for the holiday season.

 

The company anticipates hiring 350 of those employees in the Indianapolis market alone.

 

The company says many of their seasonal hires will have the chance to transition to permanent team members after the holiday season.

Castleton Square Mall Hosting Free Job Fair for Holiday Help

Castleton Square Mall is hosting a free job fair to help retailers fill open positions heading in to the holiday season.

 

The fair will be held on Saturday, September 23 from Noon to 6 p.m.

 

Fifteen of the mall’s stores are participating in the fair with positions open that they need to fill immediately.

 

Some of the stores participating include:

  • Bath & Body Works
  • Express
  • Francesca’s
  • Gap
  • Hollister
  • New York & Co.
  • Osterman Jewelers
  • Victoria’s Secret

Opportunities range from part-time to full-time with temporary and seasonal positions also available.
