INDIANAPOLIS – People living in a northeast side apartment complex said many of their units were broken into last week while someone was home, leaving them on edge.
Neighbors said three units at Columns of Castleton, near 75th Street and Binford Blvd, were broken into and items were stolen. They are also upset because they said management did not send out a warning notice.
Jonathan Bernardi said he fell asleep on the floor watching TV, and when he woke up the TV was missing.
“The burglars came in through the back door, must have tiptoed around me on the floor and took the TV out. They were extremely bold and extremely quiet,” said Bernardi.
He said due to the incident and the lack of communication with management, he wants to move out of the complex. Bernardi said if he had been notified when the first incident happened, he would have been more prepared.
“I’m really glad I didn't wake up because I imagine they would have had a plan if I had woken up and I could have probably been hurt,” he said.
A letter written by a victim living in the complex was given to other neighbors to warn them of the recent events.
RTV6 reached out to property managers at Columns of Castleton and have not heard back from them.
