INDIANAPOLIS -- Saturday will mark one year since an Indianapolis woman was hit by a car on the city's southeast side and left on the side of the road to fight for her life.
Lisa Dillingham was crossing the entrance at the Spring Lake Subdivision on Thompson Road near Lakesedge Boulevard when police say a car that was turning into the neighborhood struck her, and then drove off.
Dillingham was left lying alone and bleeding at the side of the road.
She’s been in a coma since that day.
Dillingham's father, Carl Raymond McCain, says that’s the day he lost his daughter.
“It’s sad that you go there to visit her and she’s not really there,’ said McCain. “The day that she was hit there is the day I lost my daughter forever.”
McCain says his daughter hasn’t shown any improvements since the crash and his family has made the toughest decision they’ve ever had to make.
“It’s been a long road, and we were hoping that by this time she would come out of this, but that’s not going to happen,” said McCain. “Whatever God… whenever he wants her. He’s going to take her.”
McCain and his family remain heartbroken that there have been no arrests, but they’re not giving up hope that someone will come forward with the information police need.
