Student recovering after being hit by a vehicle involved in crash in downtown Indy near IUPUI

INDIANAPOLIS -- An IUPUI student is recovering after being hit by a vehicle that was involved in a crash in downtown Indianapolis Tuesday evening. 

The crash happened near the intersection of West Street and Michigan Street. 

Police say a student was walking by at the time of the crash and was hit by one of the vehicles involved. That person was rushed to the hospital in critical condition. 

The people in both cars were not seriously injured. 

Police say the student was awake and talking to medical staff the next morning. 

The crash remains under investigation by the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department.
