Pedestrian hit, killed on Indianapolis' northwest side

INDIANAPOLIS -- A pedestrian has died after being hit by a vehicle on Indianapolis' northwest side Wednesday evening. 

Police say a car hit a person walking on Westlane Road near Michigan Road sometime around 10:30 p.m. The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. Their identity has not been released. 

Police say the driver stayed on the scene and is cooperating with their investigation. 

So far no charges have been filed.

The crash remains under investigation by the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department.
