People outside working in Indianapolis despite freezing temps, Wednesday

INDIANAPOLIS — I know some people were lucky enough to stay home on Wednesday when dangerously low temperatures swept over Indiana, but several crews and workers were still doing their job - outside.

Two Comcast workers were working to restore service on the east side Wednesday afternoon.

Lots of breaks were in the cards for the Comcast employees who were working to fix an amplifier that the cold weather took out.

"Making sure once we feel our fingers start to tingle, we have to get back in and warm up," Comcast employee, Brent Bulney, said. "That we don't damage ourselves basically."

Indianapolis Power & Light employees also braved the freezing temps today, with 4,700 power outages at one point Wednesday morning. Even fixing traffic lights that were knocked out across the city.

Meals on Wheels volunteers still brought food to seniors, disabled and the chronically ill in our community.

"We are serving about 800 clients today," Associate Director of Meals on Wheels, Nick Fennig, said. "We are doing our best to get the meals out."

Volunteers also do a wellness check, on top of delivering the meals, so it makes their work just that more important today.

"I've got five layers on so just trying to keep everything covered," David Bradshaw, Jimmy John's employee said.
