INDIANAPOLIS -- A suspect has been arrested in connection with a fatal shooting in the parking lot of a Meijer store on Indianapolis' northwest side Saturday evening.

Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officers were called to the 5300 of Pike Plaza Road around 8:15 p.m. for a physical altercation.

When they arrived, they found Steven L. Wills, 37, dead in the Meijer parking lot.

Witnesses told police that two were arguing inside the store and it spilled out into the parking lot where the shooting took place.

Cedric Cooper, 19, has been arrested and preliminarily charged with voluntary manslaughter, which means the offender had no prior intent to kill.

Police have not released any details about a motive behind the shooting but believe it was an isolated incident.

Anyone with information about this incident should call the IMPD Homicide Office at 317.327.3475 or Crime Stoppers of Central Indiana at 317.262.8477.
