INDIANAPOLIS – A man was shot and killed outside of a store on Indianapolis’ east side Tuesday night.

A spokesperson with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department said the man was shot outside of a Family Dollar store near East 21st Street and Arlington Avenue at around 8 p.m.

Officers said the victim, later identified as Cory Miller, 28, was sitting in a Monte Carlo, which was parked in front of the store, when he was shot by another man while sitting in the car. Miller was shot twice, according to IMPD.

The investigation is ongoing and IMPD is searching for two suspects who fled in a black SUV and headed north.

Family Dollar was open during the time of the shooting, but no one inside was hurt.

The homicide marks the 142nd murder in Indianapolis since the beginning of 2017.
