INDIANAPOLIS -- A traffic stop on Indianapolis' east side Monday evening led to the discovery of multiple items that were stolen from police vehicles earlier that day.

An Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officer initiated the stop around 6 p.m. in the 2800 block of N. Mithoeffer Road. During the stop, officers recovered two guns and a bag that contained equipment that is commonly used by police officers.

Police have not said what led to the initial traffic stop.

The investigation led police to a home in the 1700 block of N. DeQuincy Road where they recovered several other stolen police items.

Michael Bennett and David Patrick were both arrested in connection with the investigation. The Marion County Prosecutor will review the case and make a final decision on what charges they will face.

IMPD continues to urge anyone with information on criminal activity to call Crime Stoppers of Central Indiana at 317-262-8477.
