INDIANAPOLIS — A man whose remains were found on the banks of the White River in September has been identified, the Marion County Coroner's office said Wednesday.
The remains of Timothy Sparks, 51, were discovered Sept. 9 along the river near South West Street and West Raymond Street. Chief Deputy Coroner Alfarena McGinty said Sparks' cause of death has not been determined.
Sparks had been classified as a missing person since June 27, 2020, according to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department.
In September, an initial examination was conducted by the Marion County Coroner's Office and the skeletal remains were then sent to the anthropology department at the University of Indianapolis to be examined for injuries and to determine the age, race and gender of the person.
McGinity said at the time it would take months to identify the remains.
