INDIANAPOLIS -- Crooks have been targeting apartments along North Delaware Street in Indianapolis and people who live in the area are worried they might be next.

Three times in the past week, thieves have broken into apartments on North Delaware Street. The latest robbery occurred at the Windsor Building.

Police say a 23-year-old woman was getting home from her job as an emergency medical technician when someone robbed her at gunpoint.

According to the police report, two thieves then stole her 2010 Hyundai Elantra.

The young woman said she was still shaken by the incident and too fearful to go on camera.

Indy Flats, the firm that manages the apartment complex, sent out an email to residents that their locks would be changed.

“This isn’t exclusive to one area,” said Jimmy Rhynes. “Crime is a part of our life. That is a problem.”

Police have not made any arrests in the robberies at this time and are asking residents in the area and the city to be alert and aware of their surroundings.

“Keep looking around. Keep a 360 degree awareness,” said IMPD Officer Jim Gillespie. “If something doesn’t feel right, if something doesn’t look right, stop what you are doing and give 911 a call. We’ll come check things out.”
