INDIANAPOLIS — A satire Twitter account called "Indy Potholes" has announced their endorsement for Mayor Joe Hogsett for re-election in an amusing letter sent out Thursday.

"No community has benefited more from Mayor Joe Hogsett's policies than us potholes here in Indianapolis," the endorsement letter reads. "We started out as a minor bump in the road, but now we have total control of the city and have evolved to a point where we're able to maintain a twitter account and send out press releases."

"We stand ready to assist Mayor Hogsett's campaign, whether it be by causing car damage to any of the Mayor's political opponents, allowing criminals to get away, swallowing school buses whole or endangering the general public on their daily commute."

Mayor Hogsett announced his plan to battle the pothole problem in the city during the new year. He says the city will be spending $126 million to upgrade infrastructure, including roads. The plan is to spend a total of $500 million over the next four years as approved by the City-County Council.

"What taxpayers don't want is excuses, blame a previous mayor or other leaders who blame mother nature or blame a prior for deferred maintenance. Excuses. And you won't hear that from me," Hogsett said.

Hogsett says he supported the legislature's gradual increase of the gasoline tax, which will generate more money for the city to invest in roads and sidewalks.
