INDIANAPOLIS -- Ask people living on the west side of Indianapolis what infrastructure improvements they would like to see and sidewalks are sure to be high on the list.
Many main pedestrian routes lack sidewalks, which can make walking dangerous.
Just recently, a man in a wheelchair was struck and killed in a hit-and-run accident on a stretch of West Morris St. that lacks sidewalks.

But City-County Councilor Jared Evans says help is on the way.
Evans expects funding to be approved early next year for sidewalks on two busy roads in Wayne and Decatur Townships.
One project will be on the east side of High School Road between West Washington Street and Rockville Road.
The other is planned for Lynhurst Drive from Kentucky Avenue to the I-70 bridge.
Evans says work should be done before the end of next year and more sidewalks on other west side roads will be built in coming years.
