Six students arrested following fight near Northwest High School

INDIANAPOLIS – Six students were arrested and an officer was injured following a fight near Northwest High School Friday afternoon.

Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department Sgt. Kendale Adams said the officer received a minor injury and did not require extensive medical care.

Northwest District officers plan to have an increased presence at Friday’s football and during the school day on Monday.

School officials released a statement following the incident:

On Friday August 18, after school dismissed at Northwest High School, a fight broke out off-campus among a group of teens-including several Northwest students. Indianapolis Metro Police Department immediately responded.  Six arrests have been made. There will be an increased law enforcement presence at tonight’s home football game, throughout the area over the weekend and at the school when classes resume on Monday.
